Bass drive pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
A friend of mine is developing a bass drive pedal here in Oklahoma City and the pedal is coming out in Sept. I have been asked to come in and help them tweak it for settings and parameters prior to production. Yes, the pedal will have the ability to mix your pure tone and the drive on the output.

Please give me some examples of tones you might be looking for and capabilities of a drive pedal.

Seems to me there are three main camps of sound people seek here: "mild grit and warmth" a'la a very lightly driven tube amp; "regular SVT" a'la the standard hard rock sound of a full size SVT through a fridge; and "SVT cranked all the way" for the modern aggro metal sound.

Sure, there are lots of other voicings that people might want, but I'm guessing the majority of sales will come from the ones I described.

The biggest hurdle, the highest goal, would be to achieve the tone of the power section of a large all-tube amp being driven. There are already a million and three overdrive pedals that emulate (or are) a tube preamp at various stages of drive; but there are very, very few that successfully emulate the driven power section, which is key to the "whole package" sound.

I honestly wouldn't waste five minutes trying to design a pedal that only emulates the preamp stage, because that niche is saturated.

B-15 please!

Is this a Keeley pedal? They're in OK I believe. If so, I use their ts-9 dx pedal for bass and its great, but if it had more low end I would be in heaven. Whatever it ends up being, please let it be nice and warm. Good luck.

Thanks. No it's not a Keeley pedal but done by another company that is similar. These guys are a little bit different than Keeley but doing some cool pedals. Oklahoma City is loaded with guys who know electronics due to the old Seagate harddrives, oil pumps, and other stuff being manufactured here.
