Bass + drum band

Which effects would you use in a bass/drum doom band?

I'm primarily looking for fuzz/distortion. Something that gives a huge sound, but isn't just unlistenable noise. Note clearity and heavy tone is what I'm looking for.

Ideas?

Purely for chauvinistic reasons: Big John effects.

Hairy Balls: big fat wet fuzz, massive lowend, very good note definition, gate control is very usefull when playing very fast (which is a big plus for me)
... I AM the brass section with this one.

Grannypuker: fuzz + octaver, more harsher and synthier in tone, sharper fuzz
one bad point: some time to learn the controls, they are not that linear and volume rises and drops when tweaking settings... just something you have to overcome.

I am auditioning the Hairy Balls among other dirt pedals to see which one will get the place on my pedalboard. (I'm testing out a lot of different types of dirt to see what I can use the most... overdrives, fuzzes, distortions, dirty octavers,...

Grannypuker has found its way onto my guitar pedalboard. Awesome guitardistortion... VERY IMPRESSIVE. (Also awesome on bass but not what I'm going for currently in my band situation)

Some DOOMheads will chime in. (I'm a progsnob )

I'm using a custom-made fuzz based on the hairy balls schematic with an inbuilt overdrive, so +1

the rest:

dunlop 535Q wah
EHX memory Boy delay
Ibanez rc99 Chorus

for a drum/bass band you need something to spice up sections, I use the overdrive for normal sections, the fuzz for harder/solo sections and the chorus delay and wah only add thickness from here on.

I'm looking for an extra fuzz and maybe an octaver to fatten up the sound and add more diversity, but that's about it

ODB-3 Works really well as a clean boost if you didn't want to use it as an overdrive

also EHX Mole is an awesome bass boost.

You'll be able to keep the integrity of a bassy sound and give it some extra balls while you're at it.

As far as anything else goes it would help to know what style music you're doing.

I recommend a heavy fuzz like a Supercollider used in a blender (e.g. Barge VB-Jr) to add some definition. The cheapest way to go is the EHX Bass Big Muff.
