Question Bass effect on Hysteria by Muse

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey!

I've heard that Chris Wolstenhome, bass player with Muse, uses a lot of effects and I'm wondering what effect he uses on Hysteria? Obviously it'd be great to find out without having to spend a load of money on different pedals just to try out!

I know he uses a Big Muff a lot and was wondering if that's what he uses on this song? Also, if I was to buy a Big Muff is it best to get the bass version or ust the normal version? Cheers.

This info is pretty well covered. Try using the search function up on the tool bar. You'll get plenty of threads to read.

Beat me to it...

Like KarateKid said, there's heaps out there, just search for it. There are also pics of his (very impressive) rack mounted setup of effects and the like.

You'll get closer to the sound with a normal Big Muff, but you'll lose low end. The Bass Big Muff will have no low end issues, but doesn't have a very 'hysteria-esque' sound.

Yeah, here it is -- www.google.com

and then you type "Chris Wolst" and it has an auto match for "Chris Wolstenholme Gear"

Then you go to image search, the second pic links to here -- So many threads on this, HYSTERIA!!

I think kevteop might have meant that he wanted a link to Chris' boobies (impressive rack)

He doesn't use effects ever. He has a bunch of cabs with blown speakers specifically for Hysteria.

Everyone knows he is using a Behringer BDI21 and a Digitech Grunge.

Human Gear Animato, but good luck finding one of those. I have one and it gets the job done.

I've used *science* to develop a formula that accurately characterizes threads like these:

let
x = the effort required to provide a simple and direct answer to the OP's inquiry;
y = the effort required to sneer at the OP's failure to identify the answer via Search;
bs = random smartass replies (a constant proportional to the thread length);

therefore:

y + bs > 12.5(x)

Clearly the work of the devil this "science".

To the OP:
