There are many eq pedals available. The Boss is a grahic eq, (individual sliders/band). There's also semi parametric eq's, and then 2 or 3 band Fender-type tone stacks. What do you want to use it for?

I have the Boss that you speak of. I like it. I have yet to find a use for it as an EQ in my regular rigs, but I am an exception.

Behringer's version of the Boss is an alternative. If you dont mind rack stuff, there is ALOT of different EQs in rack formats. Seymour Duncan I think makes a Parametric EQ, but dont quote me on that.

What are you looking to do with it?

Try the google search engine in the blue bar near the top of the page as opposed to the the "search this forum" function.

The Boss EQ is a buffered bypass. Many consider the boss bypass to be pretty good.

I don't know which EQ pedals are TBP if any are.

MXR has a 10 band EQ,...Artec has an EQ/Tuner pedal (I think).

Then there are parametric EQs and rackmount units.

MXR also has a 6-band m-109 EQ that works just fine for bass. Just sold one last week that I was no longer using. It's smaller than the Boss, but it also does not have an overall gain slider. This boss is quite a bit larger though.

Parametric EQ might be what you are after. YMMV

I own the 7 band Boss EQ and the bypass seems to work fine for me, I just never need to use it because I EQ mostly through my bass. Ill sell it to you cheap if you want it lol.

I have a GEB7 i picked up dead cheap, its great, and has good control over the mids. I dont use the pedal much, but it does come in handy from time to time!

Boss GE series are good, even the guitar version works well with bass. But for awesomeness, Boss PQ3B parametric EQ is hard to beat.
