Bass Equalizer Pedals

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey hey im looking for a lil more control or shape over my sound, every for certain parts and thus looking into a bass equalizer!

i play a warwick ltd fna jazzman and a hartke 3500 head with a 4x10 ampeg cab.

pretty much all reviews i stumble on are for the Boss pedal, which ive hurd is acctually quite good, however i was looking for a few more option i spose i cant imagine its the one and only really good one out there.

Thanks a ton!

I did own a bass EQ but i traded in at the end. Is great bass EQ for tone shaping i.e change to slap tone etc.

I didn't use my to boost or cut to shape to my existing tone, instead i use it to change a different tone completely so i can switch tone easily when playing live etc.

Personally i like things simple so i use a MXR M80 type of stomp box to shape the tone i want. Can check out MXR or Sansamp DI box for tone shaping.

+1. I use the MXR M80, as well as a Sonic Stomp. These pedals are always on in my chain. I don't use a stomp to alter my tone during play, if that's what you're looking for. There's a recent thread on another eq, forgot the name, but it's high end and very popular. Barber Linden EQ, that's the one. Check out that thread, pg 2 currently.

If you want small, guyatone makes a bass eq that's pretty good. I'm using a boss EQ-20, which, to my mind, rules. It's big, and kind of pricey, and you can only switch between two tones on the fly (unless you mod it), but it's programmable, which rules.

MXR also makes a 10-band graphic EQ which is pretty decent. Barber makes the "Linden" which is one of the best two-band EQ's you can find. There are a large number of "preamp" type pedals which have two-band or even three-band (lo/mid/hi) EQ, but there are very few graphic or parametric EQ pedals on the market today aside from cheapo stuff like Arion, Daphon, Behringer, etc. Nothing of real quality. So aside from some new products that I've seen rumors of in the future, your best bet is actually certain older pedals (used/vintage) on Ebay. Check out the Barber Linden though, we've had a couple of threads about it.

Hi,

I've also been looking around for an EQ pedal for tone shaping purposes. I think the most reasonable option would be a BOSS EQ-20 with the "preset-up" and "on/off" switches interchanged (AnalogMan does that for about $50 or can add a jack for a momentary pedal to cycle through the presets-Beats me why BOSS didn't do this from the factory). That way you can have 10 "tones" at your feet (9 saved plus manual mode); the draw backs are that you have to cycle through and that it is discontinued.

...And that according to at least one TB'er, it rolls off a bit of the low end. But I'm just repeating what someone else said, I don't have personal experience with it.
