bass fuzz/distortion mystery

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok, so i got to see one of my favourite bands live yesterday who go by the name of Cog, there bassist is a pretty cool effects user and warwick endorser.

Bottom line, for one of there songs my enemy he uses a really cool fuzz sound on the intro + a live variation and i just could not identify it.....maybe someone here can? Heres the video i got a good screenshot of it from

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKo0s0nAAUs

i know in the video it looks like he hits one of those boss boxes but when i saw them he was just using that big old black pedal on the raised platform with the 3 knobs

im in the market for a fuzz and i love the sound i hear in this one, he still had enough low end bonecrushing tone to grind up a cows bones into a fine powder and slice up the remaining meat into perfect intact cuts

Well, the boss could be an LS-2 or it's ilk. The big black box looks like a russian muff rehoused in an ammo box.

Sure does. And the BD indeed makes a "really cool fuzz sound"

I don't have one, but the fuzz circuit in the Chunk OS is absurdly cool...

Im pretty sure its a russian muff to the right but in the first photo the left pedal looks like one of those Guyatone Flip effects cause notice the slots on the bottom right of the pedal. Not sure though cause of the color.

The knobs and switch match, and they are pretty unique to that pedal.

Not to contradict the master of bass fuzz, but I think it looks more like a Guyatone tube pedal than a Brown Dog. The logo isn't in the right place, and there is a tube-sized grill on the top. It may be that Flip pedal, but the Guyatone was the first thing I thought of.

That second photo is so blurry it was just a wild guess. The first one looks like the guyatone.

I think the Guyatone is the BB-1 Bass Driver. The dual concentric know in the center of the top row leads me to believe so.

God, I need friends.
