Bass Fuzz GAS - cured!

Wren&Cuff Pickle Pie B

after almost 3 months after purchase (one month was me not actually having the funds to pay for the pedal and Matt was very patient), I finally got to pick it up today and I can safely say I see why the waiting list is long

this pedal is sick. It really reminds me of a muff (well its a clone of a clone isnt it?) but with much more useable tones.

The 'shape' control sorta works backwards at minimum (full anti-clockwise) the tone is very sharp, and fully clockwise its more of a sub-buzz, kind of a weird one, the fuzz is subdued.

The Clean blend is great too, does sound natural, not like one layered on top of the other.

Its like the Muff I always wanted, and I had a green Sovtek Muff. The Pickle Pie B has more attack on offer than I could useably get with a Russian Big Muff or a Electronix Messdrive Hybrid (the Hybrid + is a great fuzz too, but I feel the Pickle Pie is definitely more up my alley)

I dont know how it might compare to a Bass Big Muff: both are muff-based and voiced for bass. and obviously the BBM is cheaper.

but just saying, im really happy, cant wait to see how it sounds with the band.

If you guys want a soundclips, just ask.

I ordered mine to replace a USA Muff + LS-2 (for the blend) that was taking up way too much space on my board. Did the trick alright.

It's nice that you've got the option of either very bass-heavy fuzz, or mixing in clean blend to retain bottom end. Both sounds are useful. Nice pedal.

i get some pretty BAD GAS, makes my stomach rumble but as far as fuzz goes, its cured. HOWEVER, within the next few days I should hopefully have: a Talkbass Edition Mojohand Cream Pie, an MXR Blue Box and a EHX MicroPog, then i think im done.......................until I can afford a XObass micro synth. Then im blatantly gonna want the new EHX Worm with expression pedal, and maybe the Frequency Analyzer.

oh and a Prunes & Custard

and an Octavius Squeezer

and a DD7

damn

i really need a job.

You guys know any girls that wanna get strange for some change?(they pay me, tho)

I mean id start busking, but I suck on guitar and no one wants to hear solo bass...except other bass players.

i take donations (paypal only)

heres my clip - usual apologies for sloppy playing. Im varying the Saturation and Shape, but theres about 80% clean blend except at the end where im adding more clean to try and get an overdrive tone.
clip starts clean, then first 3 distorted tones are Shape at minimum, and moving Saturation from minimum to mid, to max. Then moving Shape to the middle and repeating the saturation process, then the same again with Shape at minimum. the last two clips are my early attempts at cleaner light drive tones. Although i dont actually want to use it for light drive, im gonna use it for hella fuzz

the chain runs like this: Bass (p-pickup) ->Pickle Pie B -> BBE OptoStomp -> Line6 Toneport GX (no amp models)

the only issue i have with this pedal at the moment is that when i switch my VTbass on (before the pickle pie) the noise floor noticeably increases, even though ive never noticed it with any other pedals. I dont notice it while playing, just when both pedals are on but nothings being played. I dont really mind tho its a sweet pedal.

its a long ol wait. but I think some guy has been waiting like 8 months for a Sanford&Sonny Bluebeard fuzz (probably longer now) its in a thread somewhere entitled 'this stopped being funny along time ago'

I was thinking 'psh the PP-b might be good, but ill probably just sell it and get a Bass Big Muff and buy another pedal with the cash left over' but actually, im so happy with it, I dont want to sell it ever

however this is still most definitely the Honeymoon period, but its rare that im actually excited by a pedal once I own it.

not sexually excited tho

that would be wrong

wouldnt it?

...don't forget a Malekko B:ASSMASTER...a Chunk System Brown Dog is very nice too...or maybe a Zvex Woolly Mammoth...of course you might also try a Red Witch Fuzz God II, an M.I. Audio Neo Fuzz, or a Subdecay Flying Tomato...the Death By Audio Octave Clang is fun, so is the Effector 13 Sprocket...or you might even want to try the theremin Zvex Fuzz Probe...
