Bass or Guitar Compressor?

Sign in to disble this ad
Aight, I've been shopping around for a compressor for recording purposes. I'm familiar with rack units in that you can basically run anything through a studio compressor. My question is can I run a bass through any pedal compressor?, lets say a tonerider cp-1(looks cool) or are there such things as "Bass compressors".
Thanks

Check this: http://www.ovnilab.com/articles/guitarpedals.shtml

EDIT: Start at the main page for a ton more stuff about compressors and compression. http://www.ovnilab.com. A TB'er named Bongomania maintains that info.

Is this the Tonerider you're looking at? I'm curious how you picked it out?

Yep,I actually just did a search on ebay for guitar compressors and it was one of the results in my price range. it just looks cool, don't know if it would work well with a bass. I wish they would post its frequency response on the site.

I based my choice of a compressor off of Bongo's reviews.

Markbass Compressore is two thumbs up in my book!

I can already tell you the Tonerider will be lame, it's just another cheap Ross/Dynacomp version. I can also tell you there are very, very few pedals worth using on bass that I have not reviewed yet.
