When using guitar effects on bass, it seem to me:
No effect = BOOM
Effect = *b*o*o*m*
When what I want is:
No effect= BOOM
effect = *B*O*O*M*
The reason for the weaker low end (the BOOM) is because the circuits aren't made for
the input levels pushed out by bass. Something to do with capacitors. However, that doesn't mean any damage will occur simply because the circuit is maladjusted to bass.
You'll just lose a little bit ob low end fidelity.
Yes, it is okay to use guitar effects with bass guitar and amp. I used a "Metal Muff with Top Boost" for years. All I had to do was leave the high EQ knob at noon, boosted the mids a tad, boosted the lows a good bit and it came out sounding great.
