Bass ME pedal for bass and guitar?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've seen the posts and what not for the M13... just stating this early on

I'm wondering if a Bass multieffect pedal could be used with a guitar. I've read that the "bass versions" are tweaked to work with the lower frequencies of a bass guitar because the guitar multieffects don't sound too good on with a bass guitar. Does this usually mean that the "bass versions" me pedals won't sound as good with a guitar?

I'd like the have a me pedal I can use with a bass and a guitar and I was thinking about the Boss GT-10B. I've looked at the manuals for the GT-10 and the GT-10B and they seem to be fairly close as far as form and function. I'd prefer the GT-10 over other products because it appears to be the most bang for the buck.

Has anyone extensively used their bass ME pedals with a guitar or vice versa? Thanks in advance for your help!

I know that a few effect makers (Digitech, Line 6, etc.) have been making multi-effects with patches for bass and guitar in the same unit. I'd probably point you towards one of those pieces.

With the exception of bass amp and bass cab simulations, you could really use any guitar effect system for bass purposes. Even with the Line 6 Pod XT, you could purchase separately bass amp/cab simulations, they are not included by default.

I'm using a Zoom G2 quite a lot when doing jams, have built-in fast tuner as well as compression that I like to use with any odd bass amp/cab combination preset at various jams. --Kent
