Bass Micro Synth + DL4 = AWESOME!

I've never been into effects at all. I'd considered myself a purist, plus I never had anything I considered useful.
Well, then my band dissolves and I find myself involved in new projects, so I snagged a few things. These 2 items in particular have the juices flowing...

The DL4 is one of my favorite pedals of all time. It is just an amazing funbox! The delay tweaks make me giggle every time...
The BMS is fast becoming the best thing ever for making some super-funky things happen. It's like an octave, distortion, and filter all in one...
Put them together and it's the fast track to Funkyville. I spent an hour last night doing things that didn't even sound like bass and was really enjoying the experience.

I can see why people get this stuff now! It's a blast.

This will help. I think it's pretty much required listening in the effects section these days

yes the BMS and a delay/reverb (preferrably analog) are a killer combo. more depth/character, so much wonderful tone.

oh how i love thee BMS

Your world will change forever once you get a phaser to run after the BMS. I got turned onto it with an EHX Worm - never touted as anything special (Most people turn their noses up at it) but it really worked. It could be notched (stopped from oscillating) and used as a filter matrix. Didn't hurt that it also had other LFO effects, as other oscillators are great to have on tap as a part of a synth rig.

Chances are you can find them really cheap, or for a great trade since they're not attractive to most people.

I've never read a review that put it through the paces with a DL4 - which I used to use with that setup. The notched phase REALLY opened things up for looping. Doubling lines added very musical and useful textures and let me push psychedelic grooves around and lead into and out of passes without it sounding like I was using an effect.

Tools will get you farther than toys, and the DL4 is a great tool for sure.

Be sure to get the expression pedal if you don't already. That was the best feature of that thing. from one SETTING to another SETTING. rhythmic delays, tapehead offsets, self-oscillation control, swept phase controls, more chorus/flanger? the delay mix on the loop (or the loop mix)...I'd consider getting another one someday and considering the offferings on the market that DON'T suck tone like a stock DL4 (running a passive bass with a bunch of pedals (yeah...not good) is not ideal) still leave me open to this monster, it's safe to say that expression pedal is the best investment you'd make with your pedalboard, even compared to the DL4 itself.

Quick question re: DL4...

The light on the far left is blinking off every few seconds. This happens in every mode.
What's the haps with that? Seems to be working just fine, but I'm concerned. Did I leave it on too long?

It is the tap tempo light. It blinks in time with your delay time. Step on the switch over it and it will change. IE: faster or slower.

That's the right side. The left one is the "on/off" indicator.
