Bass Micro Synthesizer - pedal combinations

Sign in to disble this ad
I absolutely love the combination of my Bass Micro Synth into my T-Rex Sweeper chorus pedal on a deep/fast setting for a shimmery synth tone. It would be interesting to find other alternatives to pair it with. Would love to be able to find a pedal that could take the tone in and out of pitch but havent tried any other effects that could work. What do you use with your bass synth? Flanger? Tremolo? Filters? Would love to hear or be pointed towards some examples of interesting combinations.

Would love to find a way to copy the shimmering/variable pitch synth tone in the intro on the BMS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7bKe...eature=related

I just started running my BMS into a ring mod (this one here). Super funky. Makes my bass sound like John Medeski's left hand.

At my last gig, I chained these together for an intro that sounded awesome:

BMS into BassBalls (with Distortion engaged) is nice.
Both are old steel pedals on my board.

Also running the BMS into an Empress Tremolo - very nice

lastly, like the OP, am running BMS into chorus, old EHX Small Clone in my case - yummy mummy!

EHX BMS XO > Boss H-2 makes swirly analog goodness
EHX BMS XO > Boss PS-3 set to replicate a whammy bar is fun as well!

This is a cool thread! I love my BMS. Its not everything i want synthwise, but it has so many cool sounds in it. I will probably never get rid of it.

I rented an M9 and ran that after it. Kind of cheating i suppose.

I have yet to really discover what the M9 is capable of but unfortunately i cant afford it so its going back.

Does anybody have any samples of some cool sounds using the BMS in combination with other pedals?

Just put the XO BMS into a parallel blending situation via a Boss LS2. I have the choice of blending it with my Noise Box or Heliotrope and both sound killer. It even sounds great blended with a dry signal.

Random question - does the XO BMS run off an outlet on the PP2+? The extra wall wart is killing me.

that exact arrangement is essentially my perfect mini rig. add a Tech 21 Sansamp to make the fuzzes sound good with my Markbass rig and you have it.

My favourite thing to run after it was a Bassballs. That combo was one of my secret weapons in my old band.

I recently sold both, but they'd been on my board for nearly 3 years. Great effects both of them.

I run everything through a VT Bass. It definitely has a huge effect on how fuzz sounds. Makes it so much more natural and smooth sounding. Must be the speaker sim.

XO BMS will run off its own isolated output. It wont daisy chain IIRC. I used to like to run my BMS ahead of my HOG and have the BMS sweep down very slowly while the envelope control on the HOG swept up with attack delay. So as the tone on the BMS dived down and away the high end organy goodness would rise in the mix. Pretty damn cool. Alas I sold the HOG to get an M13 and money seems to have been pretty well sucked from my wallet forever.

I'll miss you HOG. Perhaps another day we'll meet under less star-crossed circumstances.

I use the Markbass SuperSynth in front of the M9 with a pitch up sound (one octave). That gets a pretty good addition to the synth sound.

I run mine into my Psilocybe phaser, and if I'm feeling saucy, a nice delay.

Between both, I've usually got my synth needs more than covered.

whatever the sansamp bass driver has in it that makes my fuzzes sound like they should makes that pedal indespensable

Last time I saw someone using the BMS it was a baritone guitarist and he was running all the sliders dimed through a Sunn Model T. Jesus it was loud deep and such a full wall of sound that it was terrifying!

Awesome.

It's a flexible little box alright.

I sometimes use a slow chorus BEFORE the pedal to get a LFO controlled through the guitar slider.
It is an incredible box.
