bass multi effects rookie needs suggestions...

Sign in to disble this ad
I've never used much for effects in the past except a Boss octave pedal... I tried to start reading this forum, and it could take me weeks...

I'd like to have one unit that does octaves, chorusing, some compression and some synth effects... I don't need something that does 75 different types of distortion... most important I would like good tone on the octaver and usable synth effects...

I play 80s dance music... (synth effects would be helpful... eg Stevie Winwood's 'Higher Love'...) I use a PRS 5 string and I'm ordering the GK MB212 combo...

if you guys could just narrow down the search for me, that would be greatly helpful...

Line 6 m9 will get you all of that. The bass octaver kills and you can find good synth settings if you put the work into it.

just saw a DOD Digitech Bass 30 pedal on Craigslist... brand new... $75... the couple of info searches I did did not list 'octaves', but didn't list everything... sounds like a good price for an ancient unit...

man, I've still got a lot of research to do... thanks for the suggestions above... I'll be lookin' `em up...

the Zoom B2 looks the most promising... new $89... haven't checked used yet... don't really need the USB model as I don't plan any PC recording...

If you are looking used the old Digitech BP8 is the great grand daddy and it still kicks. The Compressors are good, has all the famous Whammy functions, very usable EQ, decent wahs all of the other efx you'd likely ever need. .

The BP8 does octaves, but there's a noticeable delay between the actual note and the octave. May not bother some people, but always drove me nuts.

The BP8 is an older unit and there is a little tracking latency but it does not bother me, the quality of those and the other sounds make a small price to pay. Even with all the newer hi tech stuff I still love my BP8.
