I'm shopping around for effects pedals to go with my rig and such. What i'm looking for is a very distorted tone, but still with a defined punchy low end. So far I've come across the Pro co juggernaut bass RAT, which i haven't heard too many good things about.
Any help or suggestions? |

| | | | You're probably looking for a pedal with a built in blend or a pedal used in combination with some sort of blending device.
The bass Big Muff, T-Rex fuzz, and the Boss ODB-3 all have the blend option in order to retain some low end tone.
I've only experience with the bass Big Muff. I'm sure that there is some options for boutique petals, but you'll most likely pay more.

Also, scan youtube also demos of pedals you find interesting. A quick read of customer reviews ain't a bad thing to do either, Harmony Central being a good place to start.
As mentionned, budget is an issue. For a low budget, the EXH Bass Big Muff will do a decent job. If money's not necessarily an issue, that's where the fun starts.... there are tons of options, dude.
There's a TBer that's got a review site. I'm pretty sure it's Grygrx and his site is called bassfuzz.com. Might want to check that out too.
So search !

So far i've come across today the SoundBlox Pro Multiwave Bass Distortion pedal which has a lot of different controls and features. Yep, i've also checked out bassfuzz.com too which has also been a great aid in deciding what my next rig investment will be ;D! |

It can do light overdrive to some heavy gain distortion. Check out some sound clips people have been raving about it.

It's a great DI, has separate clean/dirty channels, and the overdrive can go anywhere from Touch-of-Dirt to Balls-Out. As an added bonus, it retails for less than the more reputable Sansamp BDDI, while having a broader EQ palate in my opinion. |

| | | | I've spent about 120 and got a bad monkey, a hothead, and a bass overdrive distortion pedal. They all fulfill and exceed my needs. And 3 set fuzz types plus blending the 3 and no adjustments mid play. Digitech. Love that? Love that!!

| | | | I play in a punk/mathrock/noisecore-ish type band (lots of dissonance, yelling, and climbing on things). I use a boss odb-3 ($99 new) and a russian muff (got it for $50 used). I dial in a punchy, crunchy, almost twangy distortion with the boss and when necessary blend in some muff for more sustain and fuzz awesomeness The distorted signal going through a mid boosted amp is more than enough punch for me.
Also, it helps to literally punch the strings. |

I'm in the process of reviewing it and getting a YouTube vid up for them on it. The bass fundamental in it is very distinct and deep, without being overly muddy. |

It doesn't have too many "conventional" distortion sounds in it, but it does have a normal one you can tweak the hell out of, and the rest of the options are pretty damn ridiculous, too. I would say, if you got it, to set one preset as the clean EQ boost, and the second preset on that button to your normal overdrive. With an expression pedal you can morph between them going for slightly distorted to fully distorted by rocking the pedal forward or backward. Then you've got 4 more presets to fill up with crazy synthy sounds, or some serious distortion that adds a touch of synthiness to your signal. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
