Now the PK5 will play the Minitaur. You can adjust the octaves by pressing the Oct/Parm pedal then press either 2,3, etc. lights will flash, done. Experiment with different octaves. You can have different octaves for Bass and Poly modes.
Example: Bass = Octave 1, Poly = Octave 3 press the bass mode you get deep bass notes. Press the Poly mode you have higher notes and you can press more than one pedal to make a chord.

Send me a PM if you need any more help or tips and tricks. I love this stuff. And as you know we have the same setup!
Awesome Joey, I have plenty of free time this weekend and no one home but me and the dogs!!!

Some changes in my rig. Finally I have an analog synth bass pedals. Basyn/Sonosaur synth module with Fatar pedals.

Ordering from Basyn went very smoothly. Instructions were not perfect, but with some trial and error the synth works just great.

COOL! With the wooden side panels, it's even got MOOG appeal!

Keep in mind that the PK-5 poly mode only works when controlling a polyphonic synth - the Minitaur is strictly monophonic.

I sold my PK-5 when I got my Taurus 3, and I wish I had kept them - the PK-5s were much lighter & easier to haul for smaller gigs (I used them to control my Roland JP-8000), and it would have been cool to have a set of pedals for home & another to leave at the rehearsal space.

Bass Tab w/ 13 notes

Here's something I came up with because I was always writing in my bass pedal notes on the tab for songs we do. I do tab because I haven't sat down to learn to read music on the bass (I'm working on it though ). Some of the songs we do, and you may do, may require you to press a pedal for a sample, and not necessarily a note

Let me know what you think. Are the pedal diagrams too big, too small, not enough of them, etc., want a 5 or 6-string version?

Thanks,

TCG

That's cool, you could also turn them sideways in case you have a more complex bass line. This is just a simple idea of what I mean, you could tweak it to make it look as good as yours. May be a little harder to read though.

Very cool idea!

I like what you did there, so I made a version with the pedalboard on its side too. Tried to make the tab lines for the sharp pedals a little darker so it might be easier to read. Just not sure if the tab lines for the pedals are too narrowly spaced.

I can see using the graphics fpr a visual when triggering sequences, but all the trouble refining a tab system? You'd get so much more out of reading standard notation....... Just had to say it.

Looks great! Only thing is you put a "B#" line in there.

As for learning standard notation, I hope this is a step in the right direction for me. I just started using tablature for my band's own stuff very recently because I have had a hard time remembering how I played something. Very, very rarely will look up tab for learning an artist's bass lines. One of my short term goals is to learn standard notation.

Thanks for the input.

I'm using the Roland to control Sampletank. I have been looking at the mofo but right now sampletank is working out. I will be getting a Triton in a few days so I may use it instead. But it is a monster to move, compared to a laptop and a M-audio fast track.

Anyone know of a stand besides a table to put the Taurus 3 on? I like to use my hands to play notes.

I use just note names if I need to write my pedal parts down.

Sure I'll take a number. Just wondering if anyone else is using IK stuff like samplemoog, ect.
I play bass gtr and just added the Roland recently. It takes practice to play my bass lines and the roland at the same time, but it is not as hard as I thought it would be.

Thanks for the number!
Hey, the first thing I noticed when I took my "Bull" out of the box is that it doesn't sit flat on the floor. It teeters as if it is missing a rubber "foot" on one side...but all 4 are present. So something must be a bit tweaked...has anyone else had this small issue?

Hey Twocarger, did I read somewhere that you have a web venture that supplies midi conversion kits (DIY or something) for old Hammond pedals? I'm in the market. I'm a synth FREAK and I want to hook up my modular to foot pedals. I already have a Kenton Pro Solo mkII midi/cv unit. I play Hammonds as well so I have the bass pedals available (spares laying about). Thanks ...

I might end up doing a smaller version just for bass synth if I like it alot - like this early version of my main modular synth rig ...

If I get sick of tweaking and patching for live work, I can always revert to the laptop/soft synth rig. I still have Project 5 and it can trigger sequences, arpeggios, and notes (just info for people that want to get into this a bit but don't know about Project 5).

I've been an analog synth player since 1978, so if anyone needs help with something just let me know, I'll be glad to do what I can to help out. Here's my 1978 rig. A mid-60s Hammond M100 and a brand new ARP Axxe mono synth. I was in my senior year of high school (17yrs old). Sold my racing dirtbike and gave up racing motocross to start "being a musician". My heart was on fire! I'd just seen my first rock concert (Emerson Lake and Palmer) and I was all set to be the world's greatest keyboard player ever known and turn the rock music world on it's side.

Uh .. right. We see how well that worked out for me.

Anyhow, if anyone needs any analog synth help I'll do what I can. These modular systems are a boatload of fun, and they have some audience appeal as well. They aren't as expensive as one may imagine either. You can also set them up to patch your bass guitar into them as well. As most folks already know a lot can be done with soft synths and a lap top as well.

So anyhow, enough blabbering about ~nothing~ ... do you offer some sortof DIY solution for converting these old contact-switch (N/O) organ pedals to midi note on/off?

Thanks.

(sorry for barging in - now I need to go back and finish reading the entire thread).
