We play thru in-ear monitors and Basyn delivers some very nice low bass sounds. I like it a lot. Around 250 euros spent on this setup. |

That is absolutely the truth. The first time I saw it was on my iPhone, and I didn't see the tape layer detail. I just thought, "Hmm...silver. I guess everybody has their own tastes."
Now, it's right up there with E=mc 2!! Quote:

Played my first show Thursday with the new rig so I was able to get some pictures. Currently it's just PK-5 > Minitaur but I'll be adding a POG2 and delay pedal soon.

Not optimal I'm sure... | Bass amps suck for synths. Any kind of keyboard amp or PA setup is fine .. essentially anything a KB player would use. I use a Roland KC150. I've modded it so that I can shut the tweeter off, when the tweeter is off it makes the KC150 a WONDERFUL sounding bass amp for practice or small venues (only 65 watts with a 1x12). They have FOUR mixable inputs, a CD player input, headphone out, monitor out, subwoofer out, and a simple bass/treble two band EQ. Even a mic input channel. So it works for small places, or you can use it as a submixer/monitor and run a shot out to FOH. New = $400, used roughly $300. Cons? Carpet covered .... my cats ("Peep" and "Daisy May") give stuff with carpet an afro.
I've brutalized mine, beat the hell out of that thing with bass playing through it. It's about 10+ years old, still kickin' (knocking on my wooden head). |

I own a Roland KC350, and it's fine, but I greatly prefer my Mesa M3 Carbine bass head, through an Aggie DB210 as my dedicated "synth rig". I don't mplay a dedicated set of bass pedals, but between the Little Phatty, DSI MEK, and Waldorf Blofeld, my bass rig handles those extreme lows from any synth like a champ. Other bass rigs I've owned weren't nearly as good sounding, so it depends.

Turn the foot you are carrying your weight with ~sideways~ .. sortof pointing away from your other foot. Angle it away as much as you comfortably may do so. That way the non-playing foot has leverage to keep your body from tilting left or right. Your playing foot is already keeping your body from tilting forward or backward. Standing that way provides support on both the X and the Y axis.
It's just something a lot of folks never have any reason to think about. I took martial arts lessons for nearly a decade (mostly just to keep fit) so I was taught to be made aware of how to keep myself balanced. I know we all know how to "stand up" but sometimes we don't actually think about the dynamics involved. Quote:

I had it set up in the kitchen and turned the corner, he was triggering notes with the pedals and playing my 'Oberheim' patch on the keyboard. |

I'd be afraid to plug the Taurus 3 into a Roland KC150, unless you are looking for some kind of explosion, melt down effect. |

Moderation is key to anything, of course. So volumes must be watched. But for studio or bedroom playing or even small venues the KC150 is fine.
Been playing synths since 1977, keys are actually my primary instrument. So maybe I'm a bit picky about using a bass amp for a synth, and it is just my own opinion after all. If your bass amp works for you, GREAT! But the person that I quoted was having less than stellar results. So I made a suggestion. |

Just picked up a GK MB212 that I'm going to try with the synths. Not sure if it will keep up with the GK NEO412 cab and GB 12.0 I run my straight bass signal to, but I think it will probably do a fairly nice job. So far, I'm mainly doing more string patches, ambient type things rather than full blown bass lines. Will find out this week on the gigs I guess. |

From my experience (which is where I answered the inquiry from) I'd much rather use a PA system or keyboard amp for synth sounds in general. A piano sounds like a bucket of ass through a bass amp. So perhaps I should have commented within the context of this forum. Everyone has their own ideas about what ~good~ is.
Like you said .... "It depends".
Yup, sure does. For what I do with synths, bass amps suck. And I've got one heck of a bass amp. But it would ~suck~ for playback of a guitar chord sample or other types of triggered samples. For just bass sounds, maybe a bass amp is fine, but for the wide open and general use of a set of footpedals, a bass amp sucks. HaaHaaa!
