Bass Pedalboard #2 Build

I've had the material and the basic design of this board for a couple years and finally decided to build it.
So I ordered one of these "DAP audio D7401 Showmaster" cases and built it to fit with some modification to the
design of my board, the case is actually made to be a lighting controller/mixer case. I plan on doing a few mods
(rubber feet on the bottom, 1/8" foam on the inside, change the handle to a leather one I have and turn the latch over)
to the case latter on. I'm thinking the board will mostly live in the case but will be removable if I want.

The board is made of 6061 aluminum (the 3 uprights), 3/8" thick black nylon (the boards), an aircraft aluminum hinge and
#10-24 stainless screws throughout.

The board itself is 19.25" wide x 14.0" deep x 4.0" tall at the rear and 3/4" tall at the front.

My buddy and me used his table saw to saw all the nylon to size from a 4 foot x 12.25" sheet. I kinda wish I would have milled
the edges of the nylon instead cause this stuff is tough and didn't saw easily (on a table saw) but mills great and really
holds a thread, but what's done is done. I CNC milled the pockets and holes in the tier for my five MXR pedals.

The three aluminum uprights I CNC milled from 5/8" thick 6061 aluminum. And will probably have clear anodized when I'm finished.

In the picks below, you can see how I weight relieved them as much as I could on the insides of the sides and the center upright.

Some of you guys amaze me...with your luthiery skills, your electronics skills, your carpentry skills, your design skills, your engineering skills, etc. etc.

I'm about as far from being "handy" as one could possibly get. My only relevant skills are musical...that plus some business skills...

The Power and D.I. units are removable from the bottom/rear of the board without having to remove any pedals
or anything if need be.

A walk around of the removable Power unit.

And a few with the Power and D.I. removed from the board.

A few pics with the board sitting in the case. Sorry about the darkness of some of the pics by the way.

I was thinking of using a Moen GEC 438 programmable switcher (which is really cool and works excellent by the way)
on this board but I couldn't fit my tuner in there the way I wanted.
And I tried it with my guitar recording rig and I liked it there for bypassing the G3's and stuff, and patching off board
pedals anywhere in the chain if I want.
This pic is from testing it with the bass board pedals.

And a possible layout.

My little guitar setup where the Moen ended up. (still a work in progress)

This is where I'm at right now, I ordered a Road Rage 4 loop bypass strip with master bypass and received it today.
I had the chance to try it for about an hour, so far it works good! and is quiet when switching. The build quality is
excellent and I received it in less than two weeks with custom LED colors.

Once I figure out how I want to hook everything up, I have everything I need to solder up custom patch cables
(Switchcraft 380 straight plugs, GL pancake plugs and Mogami 2319 cable).

So I still have a little bit to go . Thanks for looking so far!!

I love your boards ccouch7, well thought out and well executed.

I wouldn't personally use a board that big for just 7 pedals, but to each his own...

Couch, you are the Leo Fender of pedalboards!!! I would consider commisioning you to build my next pedalboard. Love the modular features, the sturdy case and comprehensive design!

Nero, I just noticed you 'sigg'ed' me! Kewl. I stand by that quote.

Wow!

My board was stolen recently (thankfully without too many pedals on it). I've been trying to come up with a design for a new board and this just blew me away.

I would need a much larger board, but I would certainly pay money for a board like that. Just killer, man!

Yeah, I don't even remember where I read it, but it's soooo true. I think we've all seen numerous examples of musicians falling through sonically and musically because they're fighting a lost cause.

If things aren't working - simplify.

Thanks for the good words everybody!
I'm still trying different arrangements right now before I mount everything and wire it up.

I have a challenge for you, ccouch! Is it possible to engineer a removable panel (for power and audio patching) in the bottom case so the board could "live in" it during use?

wooooooooo! that's hot. nice work. IMO, if you're going to put that much work into a custom board, it should look neat and tidy...not too cramped, not too spacious. For what you've got there, I think it's perfect.

A veritable work of art - and I see here (Bass Pedalboard #2 Build) that your case has a little brother as well! What's in that?

Peter

If I get what you're saying, that's one of the reasons I used this case. It has a little hinged door
on the rear that's about 8.25" wide by 1.75" deep.
I snapped a few quick pics to show what I mean.

The small black aluminum handle on the top/middle of the board serves as a tier stop (so the pedals don't run into -
anything when the tier is open and leaning against it), and a handle for lifting it out of the case.

It's possible to leave every thing hooked up and put the lid on.

Thank you, I think you mean the smaller Dap case that's in a few of the pic's, I haven't decided on what to do with it yet.
But I have a bunch of pedals to choose from, maybe a smaller grab and run bass board!
