Question bass pedals signal chain... help

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys,
I would like to know how will you order my pedals. So far, this is the signal chain I have:
1) octaver - EBS OctaBass
2) overdrive - EBS MultiDrive
3) compressor - EBS MultiComp
4) preamp/DI - Sansamp BDDI

I have been moving around the pedals, and the above configuration sound the best for me, but I'm an amateur bass player so probably I'm doing it wrong. What would you suggest?

If it sounds best to you, then that's it!
I often put the comp before the octaver, so the octaver gets a good, even signal-that's IF I use it at all. & I put Overdrive last, or before the sansamp too.
Apart from that, it all seems cool

I play my octaver in first position, too. In second I have a flanger (which you don't have), in third my overdrive (like your do too) and in fourth a wahah.
I would give it a try to place the compressor in first position to get the most out of it. Where to place the DI depends on which sound you want to send to FOH - Some sound engineers hate bass effects and are on the brink to kill you if you have any of these PRE-DI. I personally never cared about that and placed the DI right in front of the Amp input.

Generally, the order of pedals depent on what you want to achieve. For example, most people play the WahWah in first position, I don't like it there. I guess there is no real Wrong or Right, but you have to keep in mind what will happen to your signal. The overdrive behind the flanger in my chain increases the risc of feedbacks, but on the other hand, this is sometimes just what I want

thanks guys for all the suggestions.
I guess I will need to continue experimenting with the order of the pedals, since I got a new 2x12 cab, and that changed a bit the overall sound.
