Bass & Pocket Pod Express

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Line 6 Pocket Pod Express for my regular guitar and was wondering if I would damage it if I play it with my bass. I also have the Zoom B2 pedal...but there is so much going on with the patches that I find it hard to discern individual effects.

I'd like to use the Pocket Pod so I can see how pure flange or pure tremelo might sound on my Ampeg 115. That way I could know if pure pedals might give me more the sound I am looking for. But not at the expense of damaging the Pocket Pod Express.

Thoughts?

You wont damage the pocket pod. You might also want to learn how to program the B2. It's certainly capable of doing one thing at a time.

I'm working on programming the B2...it just seems like it takes a long time to do something. I went into a patch because I wanted basic overdrive and it seemed like I had to turn everything on that patch "off" and the overdrive on. It took awhile!

Do you mind listing your settings for your overdrive patch? I've had the B2 for a while and can't seem to get a good overdrive tone out of it, and I'd love to hear what yours sounds like.

Thanks.

+1 No damage. You can use any guitar effect with any bass. Have fun.

Like the other guys said, there is no way you will damage anything. Just bear in mind though that there is a possibility that it won't sound so great. Loads of guitar effects do sound good with a bass, but it is a trial and error thing. Don't be completely turned off if you find you're losing your low end.

From your post, it seems like you mainly just want to get a feel for the effect sounds anyway, which is a good idea

I do just want a feel so I know what does what. Unfortunately, I'm really confused by the Zoom B2 programming. I have the instructions, but they aren't very clear on a few things. Is there a good user-made primer or tutorial on working with it?

Ha! Finally figured out the programming on this thing and it's not as hard as I thought. I was confused between modules and effects, thinking I had to go into each individual effect and turn it off/on to edit a patch.

Once I get the OD where I want it, I will post it for you.

There are a couple of threads on B2 settings, try searching for Zoom settings.

The problem with PODs is that you can't bypass the amp models, at least with 2.0, Bass POD, Pocket POD, etc. so you won't get "pure" effects with a POD. Plus their effects are very rudimentary.
