Bass Pod Pro XT sound quality issue

Anybody have any ideas on why my plain little bean style Bass Pod sounds so much better than the Bass Pod Pro XT ? The beanie seems to give me good natural tone while the Pro XT seems to degrade it. The phase and chorus are better on the beanie too even though there are more parameters to tweak on the XT.
