I have the XT(bean). I voted X3. It just has more features. I'm thinking about upgrading to the X3.

Technically, there is no "Bass X3" . There's just the Pod X3 or X3 live (which I'll be upgrading too also) which can be used equally well for both bass and guitar. I'd go for the X3, because not only do you have the guitar models at your disposal in case you wish to play guitar, but sometimes you can get interesting tones on bass out of the non-bass patches. If you have the extra $100 to go for the live version of the X3, I'd do that if I were you.

+1...I don't use the modeling that much, but I'm interested in the Neve preamp model in the X3.

I'd go for the xt over the X3. Ive got the X3 and am tired of it being upgraded and stuff. I recently posted a rant on it: Multifx, "Microsoft Syndrome", and why im working towords giving up the POD. (RANT)

None. They all have an audiable delay when switching patches. If you want to just turn on a distortion or something (and not go for a whole other sound), then you can do that "in patch" and theres no delay.

Then again, im pretty sure that all mulities have that patch switching delay.

I just got an X3. I play guitar, too, so it's nice to have all the models. However, the biggest reason a bassist should get the X3 over the XT is the dual tone feature, plus the preamp models. You can run two rigs (one clean/low and one overdriven/bright) as well as one "amped" sound blended with a clean preamp tone.
