Ok, so im a moron... I now learned a bit more about distortion, and have it figured out, at least I hope...
(sorry for the crude picture... my paint skills suck).
I just took the preamp from here -
http://www.till.com/articles/GuitarPreamp/index.html - and added some hard clipping diodes. Unsure about the pot.. the issue I see is that im blending a boosted and a non-boosted signal... so ill wind up just getting it function as a volume control... will tinker more...
