After my successful quest for a full green Korg collection, I went on for a bass synth pedal collection. I absolutely love these so I thought, why not?
Here's what I have so far :
- Akai Deep Impact
- Korg G5
- Ibanez SB7
- Digitech Bass Synth
- Behringer SYB-600
- EHX Bass Micro Synth
- Markbass Super Bass Synth
- Boss SYB-3
- Boss SYB-5
What I sold :
- Korg X911, fantastic tones but tracks too badly if at all on the lowest strings.
- Line6 FM4, impressive with guitar, fantastic Mu-Tron emulation. Unfortunately, synth tones are pretty much unusable with a bass.
Planned :
- Octavius Squeezer
Here are the requirements :
- Must be pedal form, no rack.
- Must be bass oriented, or at least bass compliant
- No straight filter, it must at least make an attempt at being a synth.
What should I get next?
Tempt me.

The only one that comes to mind you are missing is the Markbass Super Synth...or whatever that thing was called. |

You recommended it once. I got it, wasn't a bad pedal, I realized I didn't need it, I sold it. Sold it for 5€ more than I paid for it, so thanks.
Moog Freqbox? |

I will check on it. |

Tonewise I think the Akai is ma favorite but it's not very versatile. |

| | | | That's awesome!
I've also started a 'quest' of collecting bass synth pedals myself, and since then bought an EHX Micro Bass Synth, an Octavius Squeezer, an Akai Deep Impact and a few other "Synthesque" pedals. However, I must admit that I would never be satisfied with my board if I continued, so I stopped for a while. Before I decided to 'quit', though, I almost bought a Korg G5...
I recomend you to try the following, even though they are not 'pure' synth pedals:
- Subdecay Noisebox
- Catalinbread Heliotrope
- some kind of 'clean' bitcrusher
They'll complement your collection nicelly, IMHO.
Ever thought of going octave+fuzz/pitch tracker+filter/LPF? (detune+tremolo are optional...)
Good luck for your collection.

I had one for a year or so, nutsy little pedal, really nasal analog PWM noises from it. I also had a momentary stomp on the other corner to turn the LFO modulation on/off, so I could crank it and use it for B-movie death ray special effects.
If I had the room I would still have one, but the Octavius Squeezer does basically all the same stuff. |

I will check on it. | The Moog is an actual synth, unlike a few on your list. (EHX, Korg, Ibanez, Digitech)
I suggest you get it, its pretty f'in good |

| Those pedals on your list are just filters.
The Moog Taurus (1 or 3) is The ONLY bass synth. All others are Playskool toys. What have you been listening to that didn't justify the Moog, at any price? |

Several of these pedals are real oscillators being triggered. Much more than just filters. Try not to walk into anything with your nose so far in the air. |

Akai Deep Impact
EHX Bass Micro Synth
Moog Freqbox
I've got a bit of a synth rig going on though which has:
Moog low pass filter
Moog Bass Murf
Boss OC-2
Bugbrand BugCrusher micro
Mix that with a few other pedals, such as:
Moog MP-201 controller
Devi Ever Cherry Pop
Boss BF-2
Boss PS-3
EHX Freeze
In the long run it is much more expensive, but I have found the sounds to be a lot more satisfying than any of the individual 'synth' boxes that I've owned.
