I have a Dunlop GCB-100 Bass Wah. I'm not real happy with it. I have a couple quesions:
1. Are there ways to change it to make the sweep larger?
2. Is there a way to make it easier to turn on and off? It seems like I really have to lean on it to use it.
3. I may sell it, so, What Wah would you reccomend I replace it with?
Thanks,
Matt |

If you're looking for more sweep, as far as I know, nothing has more range than the old Tychobrahe Parapedal (the wah Geezer Butler used on on NIB, if you're wondering how it sounds on bass). Unfortunately, Tychobrahe went under decades ago. Luckily, Chicago Iron makes an exact replica. They'll even put one in a crybaby housing. Not too expensive either, if you're willing to sacrifice your current wah http://www.chicagoiron.com/

If you're looking for a Parapedal, I would also recommend the Wilson Freaker wah, which is a clone, and can be had for close to half the price of the Chicago Iron reissue. |

The only time I loved it's sound was when I was playing through a vintage Marshall guitar amp, wahs sound so good going into a vintage Marshall. Since getting a vintage amp just to improve your wah sound probably isn't an option, and since pretty much every wah that's out there can easily beat the old Dunlop Bass Wah, I highly recommend looking into a replacement. Fortunately now there are tons of suitable options out there, look around a bit.
As far as making the wah easier to switch on, there's usually two rubber dealies on the bottom of the treadle that you have to compress to activate the switch. Try removing ONE of them. That can make a wah pedal much easier to switch, but really you should be able to get used to kicking on a wah pedal with a little practice. |

How good is the Wilson? If its pretty much the same as the Chicago Iron reissue, you should get that and sell the Morley to help pay for it.

I already have a couple Tone Lok pedals and like them a lot. I would love to get the Wowee from G-Lab, but it's way out of my price range. Same goes for the Cicago Iron or conversion.
Thanks again for the input. |

Thanks again for the input. | I think you should be happy with the weeping demon,...
and there IS a way to get to the inner workings of it and increase values even more, once I found the thread that listed how to do it was very happy with the audible sweep,... not quite but almost cliff burton shrieks

That said, it is a tad expensive, and it isn't especially easy to find. Plus, they don't have the longest sweep of all, which annoys even me, a devotee of the pedal.
