I'm borrowing a BassBalls... My GOD. MY GOD! Why was I not informed? I mean, I've seen them around here and things, but HOW FUNKY IS THIS THING? I thought my Spector sounded funky without it to tell you the truth, but MAN this thing is amazing. It almost sounds snarly... It's just... wow.

Yeah, it's a wild one for sure! I have never had any luck recording with it, and it is usually not on my regular pedalboard...although sometimes I'm not sure why?...but sometimes I bust it out live on special occasions for certain special parts of songs and it definately gets EVERYBODY'S attention, including the band!
I ALWAYS get loads of compliments on it!

It's pretty cool isn't it? I think it's a bit of a one trick pony in that it takes over your sound completely and pretty much always sounds the same compared with say a Q-tron which is more flexible and capable of more subtlety. I wish there were more simple down sweep filters out there.

Bassballs is a great filter, and can not only be funky but can be used for some cool synth type sounds when mixed with other FX like octave, fuzz and phase, for starters. I got a lot of milage out of my Sovtek/EHX Bigmuff, Bassballs and smallstone for many years.

I'm looking into getting a Q-tron actually. I just got $300 in insurance from GC and might buy one with it.

If you can play one first I recommend it, just to see how it responds to your bass, it is a great filter and very different then the bassballs, more wet, slurrp and quacky then the bassballs's vowlyness.

Did you? Have you taken it out anywhere yet or is it that recent of a purchase?

Try running the Bassballs after synthy pedals or pedal combos, esp. the Bass Micro Synth, turns it into a growly monster it's ace. That's basically my "bass solo tone" now.

WIsh I could find more pedals like it - small form factor, unique and useful sounds.

Actually an old guitar player of mine and I are hooking up with a drummer and singer/rhythm guitar/songwriter to see if we can gel on some originals together. So I'll be bringing some pedals and stuff and see what I can add/create.

Get the internal trimpots changed to knobs on the outside - then it give you a LOT more room to wiggle!

I have none I'm just now getting into effects really. Maybe that would explain the excitement behind the Bass Balls, but the most experience is what I've heard and tested. I own literally one pedal, unless my friend decides to part with the Bass Balls too.

That is my "special occasion tone" I was referring to earlier also!
