Bassballs problem?

Hey guys I just bought a used USA Bassballs and I'm not sure if it's working properly. It sounds like I think it is supposed to, except:
1) It loses most of the low end.
2) When the distortion is on, and the Sensitivity is all the way down, I get no signal at all. If the distortion is off, then I still get a signal, just without any highs. It's almost like the Sensitivity control acts like a gain knob when the distortion is on.

Is this how it's supposed to work? It didn't look that way in the nano bassballs demo I saw:

The sensitivity knob does act as a volume when the distortion switch is on.

I don't have any low-end loss in my bassballs, though.

hmmmm. you havn't messed with the internal trim pots have you? did the previous user leave them in "factory default mode"?

How do I tell what the factory defaults were?

I guess I'll open it up and play around...

no don't do it just yet! mark the settings with pencil so you don't lose track of what "original" is exactly.
