Which Bassdrive is better - Mosfet or Non?

Sign in to disble this ad
Currently using no pedals - just a Mustang into a Markbass combo. A guy I trust has recommended a Bassdrive along with a compressor and chorus (I play in a rock cover band and have to cover a lot of different sounds). Do I need the newer Mosfet version or is the old non-Mosfet as good? Any other comments about helpful pedals? We cover 70's rock, 80's new wave, and some newer stuff.

Thanks for your input!

The mosfet version is more versatile than the non-mosfet version. It offers an additional, slightly different variation of the "vintage" tone.

That said, I don't use the mosfet settings, so I'd be fine with either.

i like the mosfet setting better, but to be honest, i don't like that OD that much. i ended up selling it....i like the xotic BB much better. if you're thinking about buying a bassdrive, i recommend trying a BB if you can too.

If you are looking for one pedal to do "lots of sounds", why don't you look into the Line 6 line of gear? They have programmable multi-effects units that you may benefit from.

Aren't the different Bassdrives just different sounds? Kinda like the Silicon/Germ debate? Correct me if I've understood this one wrong .

Yes, but I think they are talking about the Fulltone pedal. Oh, and +1 for the line 6

Agreed!

I definitely think that the Bass-Drive Mosfet is a big improvement over the original (in terms of flexibility, usability and low-end retention). But, I hardly ever use mine anymore after getting an Xotic BB. The BB has the same inherent 'grit' as the Fulltone, but with far better low-end punch!
