Are there any bassists out there who uses inovative ways of using effects like how tom morello or matt bellamy use guitar effects?
can anyone link me to some bands with bassists that use effects and effect solos that are in your face?
im asking about bassists, not guitarists, i dont need to know about morrello or bellamys effects, i just wondered if bassists do weird things with effects like them |

And then JMJ with the famous synth-tones in that one d'n'b video that always gets posted here. Oh yeah, and Larry Graham with the Jet Phaser and "bigfoot" etc.
edit: JMJ = Justin Meidel-Johnson. It's a pain to type out. |

He's as liable to be playing with a clean tone as effected with him, though. His best band for effects is Ima Robot, though. Their first album is excellent for cool bass parts with effects. You can see him on Youtube playing with Nine Inch Nails but he's not on any of their albums. Just look for the fro.

Especially with his classic fuzz tone(ala Hysteria and Starlight), the use of the synth(Time is Running Out), Wah(Eternally Missed) as well as Delay(Falling Away with You) and octave(Citizen Erased).
They are not extreme like Matt, but it is exactly what the song calls for.

Also, even though he's a guitarist, take a listen to Minus The Bear. That dude's a genius when it comes to playing effects. |

He's been known to bust out some synthy Akai Deep Impact stuff, as well as some really tripped out flange, synths, delays, and envelope filters. Pretty much any live show will catch him playing some crazy stuff. |
