I have a little Korg GA - 30 exactly like this:
If I leave a patch cable plugged into the input, while the unit is off, will the battery get depleted?

But I was told that if you leave a cable plugged into a Boss TU-2, it will drain the battery in a couple days even though the unit is turned off.

You can test this buy plugging something into the input and switching it so the LED comes on. Then if you pull the cable out, the light goes off. In those cases, batteries can be drained if you leave something plugged in. The switching of the effect is between Dry and wet as opposed to circuit on or circuit off. If that makes sense?
I believe these Korg tuners do not switch off if you pull the cable out. They have a seperate on off mechanism and Off, truely is off.

However, just to be safe I'm going to buy an extra set of batteries for it, leave it plugged in and see what happens. That way I'm covered.
