BBE 383 pre amp cutting in and out

Sign in to disble this ad
So I bought a BBE 383 pre-amp off of here a few months ago, plugged her in and just did wonders for my sound (my rig setup is listed below).

Recently I started having issues with something cutting out. I would be playing then my rig would go dead, then after a few minutes it would be fine for another half hour and dead again. I checked my rig and nailed it down to this piece of equipment.

Anyway I have taken it into my local tech, he does great work for a pretty good price. I was thinking it was maybe a loose solder or maybe just needed a cleaning (it's like 19-20 years old I think). Any thoughts on what might cause this? I should hear back from them in about a week, but just looking for some insight or just have fun with guessing. I'll let you know the true issue when I get it back.

No idea what's causing your problems, but in case you weren't aware the 383's manual has its schematics which your tech might find useful.
