BBE Opto-Stomp knobs too tight?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got in a brand-new BBE Opto-Stomp compressor pedal and the knobs are very tight through about 1/3 of their turning range. I.e. the first 1/3 is very smooth, 2nd 1/3 is snug and the final 1/3 takes more effort than I think it probably should.

Electrically, it seems to be working OK. Is there anything I can do to give these a little more relief or should I just send the whole thing back? By any strange chance is this normal for this particular pedal?

I owned one of these and had no such issue. The pots were very smooth and full ranging. It's a nice pedal.

Dang, that's what I was afraid of. I don't have it handy - are there set screws on the knobs? Maybe the robo-installer torqued them on crooked? The case didn't appear visually bent.

I would send it back and find a cheap used optostomp with smoother knobs.

I don't know. I never had to mess with mine - built like a tank to my recollection.

Just have them send you a new one.

Yep, got an RMA although they had no in-stock date and apparently these things are very popular about now. Did find another vendor with stock so hopefully they'll pass in the night and I won't be out too long.

Have the same issue with my sonic stomp, to a lesser degree. On mine it is because the knob is rubbing against the metal body. I was miffed when I got it but kept it and its been a tank.
