BBE Opto Stomp: LED color?

Sign in to disble this ad
Somewhat silly question but here it goes.

My Opto Stomp, which I bought new a few months back has a green LED. I am almost certain however that I've seen a few around here with a superbright blue one. Are these ones modded, did BBE at some point use/start using blue LEDs or maybe I just imagined things?

Thanks in advance guys!

Mine is blue also........REALLY bright blue! In fact, on a dark stage, if I have the OptoStomp on, (which I normally do), it makes me glow in blue from the knees down.

Mine is green. I wish it was blue to match the LED's in my Genz Benz combo.

Just got one... mine's blue but the damn thing stays on all the time, even in by-pass! I assume that's not normal, correct?

It's pretty damn easy and cheap to change out an LED to a color you like.

Hi All,

I just got one a couple of days ago and the LED's BLUE, I mean BRIGHT BLUE.
The bypass switch kills the light on mine. Boy, this thing is quiet! And very subtle. One thing I noticed - that with my passive pups (Villex, which are very strong on the fundamental of low notes) the deep bass seems to be more compressed, almost attenuated, more than the highs and mids. I can tweak the EQ to compensate for that, but I wonder if others have noticed that effect.

Mostly, the compression has a "civilizing" effect on my tone. Takes out some of the rawness. I am quickly getting to like the tone with this thing in-line. Can't wait to try it playing out or through my GT DITTO box.
Good luck, would love to hear more about this pedal.

Bill

its natural for a compressor to compress the lows more than the highs if the compressor has only one band. other compressors have a separate compression ratio knob/control for lows and highs, like the EBS one i believe, so they are dual-band. if that is what you want y oucan look into some of those models, a search in this forum should be fruitful

i personally am perfectly happy with my green led Opto Stomp. it sounds great and leaves my tone untouched, which is what i look for in a compressor.

all u need is to open up your pedal, unsolder the light, goto Radio Shack and pick out a color in the same format, then resolder it on.

DONE DEAL.

Mine's blue. It was like looking into the sun, so I mounted in the back of my rack. I can actually look down now when I play, and there's more space on the board as well.

I cracked mine open-the LED was grounding on the case screw. A little twist to reset the LED board (so it wasn't grounding to the case) and it was fixed. Just an FYI in case anyone else runs into the issue.

Oh, and I do like the pedal... on a very low setting. 2, 3 maybe 4 if I'm getting tired and little sloppy but NO higher!
