BBE Pedals + velcro Goo

Sign in to disble this ad
Whats up guys,

I ran into a problem with BBE pedals. When I first bought my sonic stomp, it came with velcro on the back. When I tried removing it, the adhesive was basically like a thick melted goo that got all over everything, and I used wd-40 to get it off. I proceeded to put on my own velcro, and a few weeks later, I noticed that the adhesive turned into this hell goo again!

I went to my BBE opto stomp that i also put the velcro on, and same story. These are turning my pedal board into a mess! My digitech bass monkey seems fine with the velcro, but I dont understand why the BBE pedals are different.

Has anybody else experienced this? Any solutions, tips, or advice?

Thanks.

Joash

Maybe try totally removing all the goo with "goo gone" or maybe nail polish remover or something. Bug & tar remover for cars?

Word of warning with goo gone- it works really well but it can mess with plastic or paper labels... having tried using it to remove a price label from a video game box.

This same thing happened to my Planet Waves tuner. I guess the pedals run hot and melt the adhesive on the velcro...

This happened to my opto stomp too... I just removed the rubber bottom (it only happened on the rubber, not where my other velcro is, the battery clip) and put velcro on the metal.

It's likely that there is some solvent in the chemical makeup of the rubber/plastic pad on the bottom of the BBE, and that solvent is leaching out to the adhesive of the Velcro. If that is what's really happening, it will happen every time. Your best bet might be to remove the rubber pad as Unknown did.

i just tried to peel off the rubber, but it looks like instead of being a sticker, its actually glued on so i'll have to basically pry it off and scrape off the remains.

i wonder if there are any non permanent solutions...

I went ahead and pryed the rubber bottoms off and attached some new velcro.

Although its not aesthetically pleasing, it's a lot less messier and it works just as well.

Thanks Unknown.
