Keep both knobs fairly low. I mean, no higher than 10:00 or so. Any more and it starts getting really fake sounding.

+1

I keep my Low at about 10:00 ish and the high process alittle under 9:00. If you raise them to much it starts to sound like you scooped out your mids.

I would disagree. Although I replaced my Sonic Stomp with a Barber Linden, I used one for a long time. Different amps require different settings. For me it was low at 2 o clock, and process at 1 o clock. Sounded great to my ears, not scooped at all. All amps and players are different, so expirimenting is key.

Honestly, I feel the best way to use a sonic maximizer is to turn it off. I've tried one two different times, thinking maybe the first time was a fluke, and it's just is a tone sucking monster.
When used on a bass rig, I think it sounds great solo, but when you try to put it in a band mix, it just completely makes the bass disappear. It seems to suck all the mids out, and exagerrate highs and lows. I know there are people that love theirs, but it just didn't work for me. I think if I had to use one, I'd definitely go with the poster who said to use fairly low settings.
