My new Bass Big Muff arrived today. If all goes well, I'll be selling the russian Big Muff that I currently have on my board. I can't wait to get home tonite to try it out!

The BBM is perfectly usable and sounds nice (friendly/polite/gentle), but where's the fun in that?
To each their own and YMMV of course of course.

That said I still like the new russian muffs better than the BBM. I bought the BBM and the fuzz didn't seem crispy enough for me (although it did have some cool options). I think the russian has a more 70's vibe and the BBM has a more heavy rawk and modern take on fuzz.
Hopefully I'm articulating this well enough. I'll just say for once I happen to like the cheaper option and I'm ok with that. |

Then again, I have no idea what kind of stuff he's playing, so I can't assume too much. |

The BBM is certainly can be a bit tamer, but still nasty if you want it to be. The biggest plus for me obviously is the Dry setting. When playing alone, the black Russian muff is awesome, but I really notice the loss of low end in the mix with the band. The Russian one is so dirty and noisy - i love it. And I don't mean noisy in a bad way, but noisy in the sense that the way I usually have it set it you need to be real careful with technique or it can really show your sloppiness. That sloppiness can sound super cool too though.
No cancer cure as far as I can tell though!
Like I said - the dry setting has sold me on it as a replacement for the russian muff. The size is better too I suppose, but I do like the look of big ole' EHX pedals. Moving stuff around I should be able to have room on my little board for the Worm I've got coming too.
In conclusion - the Russian muff is for sale!

Sleeping people and all, but I have had a chance over the last 2 weeks to get it nice and loud with band rehearsal. The BBM sounds terrific in the mix with the band. However - with my jazz, it's pretty noisy - especially when I've got the amp on 11! I think it's because of the single coils, though I usually have them blended favoring the neck p/u slightly. The noise dosen't seem as bad with by TBC SS400, but it's still there.
Do you guys think a boss ns-2 or a hum-debugger would be better for this situation?
I guess I have to put my tuner/mute pedal at the end of the chain, but I'd rather not.
