Behold! The Lowly EQ Pedal

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a fairly low-gain need for a preamp. I desire something to add a little gain and level to my passive pups, but much less than most of the preamp pedals on the market. I like for my fretless bass to have a mwah sound.

I recently purchased the MXR M-108 EQ from a TB member to replace my Behringer BEQ700. I am somewhat attached to that pedal, as it was my first FX pedal I purchased 4 years ago and has been used on a regular basis at home and at church. But, I wanted a little more control. That clean gain on the MXR is a neat addition to my tone fiddling.

That, and I wanted a pedal with top-mount holes.

I am using a Godlyke ISO Pump to convert the 9v to 18v.

Now, back to ogling all y'all's really fancy boards...

I think the EQ pedal gets missed as a solution when people want a clean boost, or a specific frequency boost.

The MXR EQ is a better transparent than the Behringer EQ in my A/B testing.

TBer Ed Friedland, aka the Bass Whisperer, is also a believer in the usefulness of having a high-quality graphic EQ on the pedal board:
