Behringer Bass Overdrive

I have a Big Muff Pi that no matter how I set it, I feel like the bottom just drops out when I use it with the band... my sound gets totally lost. On a whim, I ordered a $20 Behringer Bass Overdrive (+$5 shipping) on Ebay. Used it a practice tonight, and WOW... what a fat sound! Really sounds great! Even the other guys in the band commented about how much better it sounds... I know I have a lot less experience with effects than a lot of you, and Behringer has a poor rep around here... But (and YMMV...) I really like this pedal...

Big Muff Pi = NOT an overdrive. Plus, it has a variable mid-scoop notch which can contribute to not being heard in the mix.

Fuzz is a difficult pedal to incorporate in a band, and the Big Muff Pi is notorious for needing "sonic space" to be heard. Other fuzz pedals can stand out better, but the thicker the mix, the more trouble you'll have. Same goes for anything above mild overdrive.

On a side note - I think that Behringer pedal is a copy of the Boss ODB-3. Not one of my favorite overdrives (in fact, it's on my "hate" list), but hey, it floats some bassists' boats, and it floats yours, too.

Poor rep or not ... Behringer has some very budgetfriendly products that deliver more then you paid for
Which is a good trade in my world

I have the Behringer Bass Overdrive pedal also. I am not really an effects guy, but for a song or two, it does its job.
