Hi, I know that this is a bit of a.. bad comparison as the behringer is an amp modeler semi-preamp thing but I was just wondering which I would be better off getting! There both the same price, but I just like how the BassFX has many features in one. Help please! |

You can get a good handful of very usuable tones out of it. Actually, I have it on about 90% of the time (some of my basses it just doesn't work well with- it happens). Also, the fact that it's also a direct box is a plus. I bought it for $29 off of American Musical (if I remember right!). Definitely worth a go.

It doesn't use the relatively pricey TLC2262 OpAmp that is supposedly critical to the SansAmp's sound, for example. Quote: |

| They've recently gone up, but you can still find them for less. Studica had them for $20.95 a few months ago.

| | | There's a video on Youtube that compares the BDI21, BDDI and 3 other pedals: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG9OJdPtb5I
It's hard to compare because they used different settings, but the Sansamp and BDI21 definitely sound similar to each other and distinctly different from the standard distortion pedals. The Sansamp sounds bigger and more scooped, but that might just be the EQ settings. |

| And the entire thing is pointless, clueless and effwitted.
"Bass Distortion Shootout"? Just shoot the guy who did it and be done with it.
This is not what an adult bassist gets a SansAmp or a BDI21 to do.

But, there's much better stuff out there! I would save up for a Sansamp VT, or an RBI if you have a rack setup. I love my RBI! |

I have and use a lot of Behringer stuff, mostly home-studio (mixers, preamp, patchbay, headphone amp, e.g.) I think it's good stuff, but I've never had to depend on it in a stage environment where it gets tossed around a lot.
You'd actually be "pound-wise" if you just save your money and get a Sansamp, e.g. I know it's hard to do if you're really counting pennies, but that's my advice, for things that you don't want to fail on you at a critical point.
