Question Behringer TU100 Tuner Problems and Eboy!

Sign in to disble this ad
I bid on, and won, a Behringer TU100 foot pedal tuner for guitar/bass. I was confident since I believe Behringer has a pretty decent reputation, combined with the high number of positive feedback the seller had.

My confidence waned when I opened the mail package and discovered two tuners. I quickly realized one of them didn't work at all. The second one was set so far off from 440 Hz, it tuned almost a full tone sharp. Even by utilizing the fine tuning function (which allows me to set the Hz between 438 to 447) it was still tuning sharp.

The seller told me to throw the units away and he gave me a full refund. Here's my dilemma...I now have two tuners. Is it worth my while to try to get the uncalibrated tuner properly calibrated or is it cheaper to buy a brand new Boss chromatic tuner with the exact features as the Behringer for $99.00?

Every word of that post sounds bizarre to me, no offense intended. Behr has a terrible reputation (whether or not that reputation is deserved). The seller sent two? Both were faulty? And he just said to toss them and he'd send you a third? And you want to know whether getting a Behringer pedal repaired is a good investment? Weird, weird, weird.

Take a look at the Korg Pitchblack. I believe you'll be happier putting your money in that direction rather than the Boss or repairing the Behringers.

This is what happens when I do my homework AFTER the test!
I searched a little bit too late and discovered the Behringer lawsuit thread Roland Sues Behringer

Having read it, it changed my mind on alot of my own misperceptions. No loss, except for time. I got my money back and will mark it up as several lessons learned. Firstly, check talkbass.com before making any purchase or repair.

Thanks to all the members that have given me their input. It helps keep me on the straight and narrow.
