Best analog octave pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have recently been trying to overhaul my pedal board with analog-only pedals and currently, I'm tryin to replace my Boss OC-3. Any suggestions on analog bass pedals? Prefer to stay around the $150-$200 price range. Thanks!

No offense, but there are like 10,000 analog octave comparison threads. I prefer the Aguilar, but YMMV. The MXR BOD is extremely popular too.

And the good news for you is that just about all of the best ones can be had for less than $200 new, nevermind used.

The OC-2 isn't digital, is it? And it sounds like gravy. Fat, greasy, yummy gravy. IMO.

OC-2 is analog. OC-3 is digital.

Electro-Harmonix Octave Multiplexer. GREAT sound, if you're after something more on the synth side then a hifi replica of your sound tuned down one octave.

+1 to the Aguilar Octamizer. Super fat sound and the filter sweep on the low octave lets you get dub tones to overdriven octave tones.

The Aguilar octamizer gives you the best variety of octave tones, with very powerful and practical tone-shaping controls. it gets my vote for sure.

I think once the sample size gets larger... the consensus will eventually be either the Aguilar Octamizer or the MXR 288 Bass Octave Deluxe. I went with the MXR 288 cause my local pro shop had one in stock, but would be happy with the Aguilar too. I don't think you would go wrong with either.

MXR M-288 Bass Octave Deluxe
EBS Octabass

Those are the octave pedals people talk about the most. These are probably the easiest to buy and sell on the used market because of their popularity.

Probably going to be in the minority here, but my vote goes to the EBS Octabass-I love MXR pedals, and their octaver has more tweek-bility than the EBS, but I found the EBS to track much better. YMMV.

When it comes out, the Iron Ether Nautilus. Mutron Octave Divider clone for the destruction! Price TBA, fair warning.

I have the MXR BOD. Really got into it at first, but the more I use it, less I like it. It's a well built thing, the mid switch is a plus, I guess this pedal is just not my cup of tea. Thinking of replacing it with an OC-2.

Digitech Whammy.
Pitch bend, harmony intervals, up, down, sideways, octaves up and down ...
All for what? $200? Or is it less?
No comparison.
Listen to Justin Chancellor of Tool. He uses it a LOT. And BTW, the red whammy IV is just as good as the old blue bass whammy, maybe better but they're basically the same.
