For active, used MXR M80 is still one of the best values out there.. about $65 used.

It is a little over 100 but well worth it. It has Mark Bass Variable Filter (Tone knob/tone contour) and the Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator (some wooly growl). Plus it has an adjustable clean boost.
And of course it has an XLR DI out. Normal sized footprint and its own power supply.
I am extremely pleased with mine. |

Ground lift switch. dirt cheap. I have been using mine for two years now and, well, it hasn't yet failed.
