dbx makes the db10 (passive) and db12 (active), both under $100 brand new, both very good quality.

Second thought--you say DI "pedal"... so are you looking for something that also has EQ, overdrive, that sort of thing?

That's a different thing...then the only option I can think off is is the Hartke VXL Bass Attack. I have one, quite not bad for the money.

ART Tube PAC $99

DI (and Mic Pre) with compressor, and has a 1 M Ohm instrument input - good sound for the money

Same pre and compressor as in the ART Tube Channel, a rack mount channel strip that is now discontinued. But its sound can be heard on BassTasters, and it compares surprisingly well with much more expensive units like the Summit.

Don't forget the good old ART Tube MP. Less than fifty bucks, XLR and 1/4" ins and outs, phase reverse, tons of gain, etc...

Rolls DB25 is quiet.. has an attenuator and ground lift.... about $30... very small size.

For active, used MXR M80 is still one of the best values out there.. about $65 used.

Anyone want to comment on how the MXR M80 compares to the Aphlex Bass Xciter as a DI at the end of the chain?

I had one of these for awhile. The biggest problem with these is that the bass and treble controls are ALWAYS ON. It does give you great tonal opportunities, but one of those options is NOT your bass straight up. However, if you can find YOUR sound with it, it's a great pedal.

MarkBass Super booster.

It is a little over 100 but well worth it. It has Mark Bass Variable Filter (Tone knob/tone contour) and the Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator (some wooly growl). Plus it has an adjustable clean boost.

And of course it has an XLR DI out. Normal sized footprint and its own power supply.

I am extremely pleased with mine.

Some of these options don't have ground lifts... am I missing something?

I know you don't want to read it, but I am recommending the Behringer Ultra-DI DI400P. Passive. Ground lift switch. dirt cheap. I have been using mine for two years now and, well, it hasn't yet failed.
