Just got my B3K yesterday. A huge investment but well worth it!

I have mostly been using cheap pedals - as a unemployed kid, boutique pedals have been out of the question. This pedal is totally in a different level to those cheap pedals I've had, holy batman! It's so responsive. The low end is huge! Then again, I have not tried other OD/Distortion pedals but this sounds almost perfect to my ears. Oh ya, using the pedal with a old huge-ass german-made Dynacord amp.

Can't wait to try it in a band situation. Thanks Darkglass!

Yeah, got my B3K about a week ago, amazing. Exactly the sound that I had in my head. Nice work Doug, thanks.

When my B3K switch turn to thin ,the volume is lower than raw and fat.
Is it normal?

Recently got a US B3K (#006) and I'm ****ing loving it. While it sounds wonderful by itself, I stack it with my Iron Pig. It's a pretty nice combination. It gives my Pig a blend knob, helps fatten it up, and then gives it a little more grind.

I would be interested in trying the B7K, just to see how that EQ works with my tone. For England.

(hopefully someone gets that...)

Exactly why I took the plunge, parted with my B3K and got the B7K. The 7 is exactly what you might think... a B3K with an EQ section. It makes an already awesome overdrive totally unstoppable and the LO MIDS knob is magic.

The genius of the 7 is that the EQ is post blend knob, so even if you blend out all the overdrive, you can still use the EQ section for your straight clean tone (which is how I'm currently using it). It's quite transparent and lets me sculpt/enhance the sound of my bass while keeping its natural personality, unlike a Sansamp which colors the s*** out of your tone. (Now before anyone gets defensive, I also own a Sansamp PBDDI... ). I have the 7's overdrive level set, so all I have to do is turn up the blend knob and boom... instantly add the B3K crunch when needed.

One of my bands had a quick 30 minute "emergency" rhythm section rehearsal last night, so I just brought a bass and plugged straight into the rehearsal rig (not mine), and I found myself really missing what the B7K does for my tone.

Hopefully that gives you an idea. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions. Always happy to talk gear!

5sg.

Hmm... very tempted to take the plunge. I am going to have to pay close attention to the B/S/T section.

So my Darkglass BK7 came yesterday. I had never heard a sample of its sound before I ordered it. I just went by the reviews that other TBers had posted and took a chance. This thing is the BEST investment I think I have ever made!! The BK7 adds the most beautiful distortion to my sound that I have ever dreamt of! And there is NO bottom end loss. This thing is the be all end all of bass distortion pedals. I absolutely couldn't be happier!!

Does the B3k/B7k have any kind of overall high-pass filter?

Are you wondering about an specific control in the EQ? I ask because strictly, every single audio circuit I have seen has some sort of HPF .

Regards,
Doug.

Not looking for an EQ control but an overall highpass.

I'm asking because I'm going to need to be using an iAmp 500 with my rock trio for a while, and that amp has a huge low end with very little high-passing. I'm wondering whether one of your pedals would work to control that and not waste watts on subfrequencies.

Ah, the answer is yes, it has two actually. The Grunt switch will cut bass on the Raw and Thin position (pre-clipping) which takes away sub-bass frequencies before the clipping.
And when dimmed, the Low knob in the EQ will act as a high pass filter (just like any other in a similar Baxandall circuit).

Regards,
Doug.

I have a question. Im about to order the bk7 from the American retailer i think their called boutique pedals. Will i be able to return it if i prefer the bk3? Its just that somebody said they prefer the distortion on the bk3... i figured their basically the same except one has the added E.Q.

I've owned both. There isn't anything the B3K can do that the B7K can't. As far as the return goes, you need to check with the store you are buying from, I would think.

+1. B7K = B3K on steroids. My B3K was great, love my B7K even more. It's an always on, "desert island" pedal for me.

Currently I'm looking for an OCD. See if that does it. So many flavors of OD to choose from.
