| I think long scale would work better because of higher tension on low notes which should make the fundamental frequency stand out more, making it easier for the midi pickup to track. I think.
I use midi on 2 34" five-strings and a mock 36" 34" six-string (it's hard to explain, just look up Spalt Magma 601x). In any case, the six has far superior tracking, but it also uses piezo for its midi pickup, so it may not be a fair comparison. All in all, I think a long-scale bass with a piezo midi pickup instead of a GK is your best option. |
