Best clip-on tuner?

Sign in to disble this ad
there are plenty out there but i'd like one thats quite inconspicuous like the intellitouch PT 1/2 but there was a thread up a little while ago that said he was having trouble registering a low B with it and in a band i'm going into i will be going down to drop C so i need something that will register it and still be inconspicuous but still able to see.

Any thoughts?

Bass Junkie.

I have an Intellitouch.
Pros: very sensitive and accurate, really nice display that backlights when necessary
Cons: a little slower as compared to an inline tuner with a needle, and since it depends on vibration, can be a little quirky reading certain notes on certain instruments depending on where it is clamped and how the string is plucked.

They explain this in the instructions, though, and what you do is pluck with the thumb, not too soft and not too hard. I like the Intellitouch but I would recommend you try one out first on your bass specifically.

I have a Korg AW-1 and it works well.
I mostly use it on DB but when I've used it on EB it's worked pretty well, even on a low B.
As with the Intellitouch it can be a little bit slow at times, and for EB I'd honestly recommend a tuner that you can plug into. It'll respond faster and be easier to read if you need to tune in a hurry, like in between songs at a gig. I used a Boss TU-2 for a while and now have a Korg DTR-2000, and both worked well, the korg is a bit faster and more accurate.

Just curious, why do you need a clip-on? Isn't a plug in tuner gonna be a lot more effective and not look funny on your bass?

I have a plug in tuner, but i want something that i dont need to walk over to and press a button, it jsut seems unprofessional always looking like your tweaking something, i may be wrong but its just the way i am.

I have a tuner on my zoom B1 but i'm not sure if i'm going to be using it as much anymore.

I dont want a pedal tuner as i want to save on space and having to have extra cables n things i dont like, i like to look as clean as possible.

Thats why i want to get one thats out of the way like the intellitouch wich folds behind the headstock, alot of the others show round the front and if you put them on the back would be either pointing straight back so you have to push your bass forward to be able to read it which is hard while tuning up. Or they are upside down.

I've never had a problem with the intellitouch registering any note. If it fails to pick up the low B, hit the octave harmonic. That should give enough energy to the headstock.
