Howdy all,
Looking to get into the compression game. My girlfriend gave me a giftcard for musiciansfriend for $100.
I'm mainly just using this to help when I play harmonics (they're never as loud as fretted notes, or sometimes too loud)
I think that the Ashdown Compressor would work well. Its only $50 and would leave me with enough money to get a set of strings or something to top it off.
Any other recommendations?

I know bongomania had to do some experimentation to get it just right, but when you get the internal trip pot set right, it's fantastic. I think they just set if from the factory to be able to get a huge amount of squish and such, which is okay on a guitar like a strat, but not so great on a bass...

Is there something you read that put you off? I currently use a Punch Factory, but am considering moving to either a Multicomp or Compulator. Unfortunately I don't have access to try either locally. I have been thinking I will probably go for the Compulator, but am interested in what killed it for you with the EBS

Me? I played around with an Opto Stomp in one of the local shops and if I didn't have my DBX rackmount I probably would have bought it. It worked well for what I needed....And it's $99.99 at MF with free shipping.
Perfect.
