Best compressor for 80's funk & soul ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I need your help to find the best compressor in pedal format to get the funky sound of the late 70s & early 80s... my main reference is Leon Sylvers (Dynasty, Shalamar, Whispers)

Thanks !

I highly recommend the Frantone Sandwich for that type of sound. But act quickly, because Frantone is going of business!

hey bongo....any reason as to why the sandwich would be a good option? they never pop up in the classifieds...so it's a bummer. i think big O is the only one whose sold one on here.

Yeah and if I wasn't so broke I'd have bought his for myself. I do intend to buy my own--the one I reviewed was just lent to me for a while.

The reason it's a good option is that IMO it provides the best funky, squishy, shiny, colorful qualities of the Ross and Orange Squeezer pedals (popular for the "funky sound of the late '70s and early '80s" as he mentioned) yet with much better low end and better control over the compression.

The Frantone stuff is interesting, but man it's pricey!

Thanks bongomania !

It looks pretty good, a little bit pricey but quality seems flawless...

if bongo recommends it....it's most likely not noisy.
