Which Is The Best Delay Pedal To Achieve...

Sign in to disble this ad
The Edge's echo sound. This actually pertains to my guitarist but I am intrigued too. Our band is starting to cover some U2 songs and we really want to do "Where The Streets Have No Name" we were just wondering which delay is the best one out there to achieve that sound.

I think w/o going to such expenses and/or building a real 2-amp wtereo setup with 2 delays.

I think the TC Electronic Nova Delay or Eventide TimeFactor could work fairly well.

I found this and it is only 240 bucks. Looks pretty promising.

I've never been into U2.

I just read through the link that was posted above about the Edge's(?) sound, and there were two clips of the intro's to two of their popular songs with the delay on it... and I gotta say when I listened to both of them I though to myself, "wow, some this stuff was pretty epic". When the delay kicked it it had a pretty powerful feel to it.

Yep.

Did the guitarist really change his name to 'The Edge'? I was expecting 'The Edge' to be a song title, not an f'n name. Obviously Bono and 'The Edge' have their heads wedged all the way up their collective arses.

Overrated? Yeah, probably. I really like "Achtung Baby" but I'm not a big fan outside of that album.

But regardless of how anybody feels about U2 as a band, there's really no denying that The Edge has an incredible delay sound.

That said, I still thin Sting and The Edge should do a side project with other musicians with dumb nicknames that they go by. Maybe Flea could join them.

I found the page Mark linked to pretty interesting even though I don't like U2. It led me to this which I think flat answers your question perfectly.

I admit that I think Bono is a world-class tool, but I have always LOVED The Edge's guitar sound. That site was very cool to read Mark, thanks.

I thought I read something somewhere that Edge was using a Line 6 DL4 w/ the rhythmic delay setting in the past few years (obviously not when 'Streets' was written)...
I am totally not thinking straight the last few days, so I may have dreamed it.

Chief - Yes, Bono is a tool.
