Best I've played: 3leaf Audio Groove Regulator.
I'll be ordering one for myself soon

a lot of people lately are diggin the MXR bass envelope filter. It's small cheap and you can get a few different sounds out of it.

"Best" Envelope filter for bass?

Thats a very tough question since there is no "best", the best for you might not the best for me. You should try many different pedals to find out which one fits to your ears.

I´m also trying to find the "best" envelope sound, so far i tried the Exar Pig Nose, the build in envelope filter in my Boss ME50-B and the DOD FX25-B ... and i don´t like them all.

This poll i started might help with your decision.

I will go for the 3Leaf Groove Regulator soon (check their website, summer sale!)

One of the issues I have is that many of the newer pedals have an slow oscillator / filter running along with the envelope. Anyone know what Willis is using on his latest CD?

on his shaman recording.

I just bought the mxr on ebay by the way. Sounds like what I'm looking for. Less oscillation and more envelope.

I like my Pigtronix Envelope Phaser. I have an EP-1 but the EP-2 sounds incredible. Far more 'out there' - funkier EF and slower LFO.

That's my vote. sidechain triggered Envelope follower plus LFO phaser.

i believe only 1 envelope filter on your pedal board is not enough, so many great filters out there.

(ok, i´m a fx junk)

On another note, folks; where do you put your filterpedals? Before or after dirt?

Before. For me, they go right after the tuner.

As for what is the best filter pedal, depends what you want. I'M pretty happy with a DOD FX25, a modded Bassballs and a BSW.
