what do you dudes think of these?

What else might be a good fuzz/overdrive pedal that wont muddy up my tone or make me lose my low end?

The best thing to do would be to use the search function. You'll want to decide whether it is fuzz or overdrive that you want as they are quite different sounds.

And even among fuzz sounds, do you want vintage tones for rock and funk, an aggressive or synthy modern sound?

There are plenty of threads on different ODs and fuzzes, some info in the FAQ, and clips in the WIKI of different pedals.

It is also always helpful to give a reference point for the sounds you want. Links to clips or videos help. What you consider "the best" fuzz pedal might be completely useless for someone else's purposes and vice versa.

As for the El Grande, I didn't really care for it myself (too buzzy and nasally for me), but I know plenty of people have liked it.

Thank goodness! We went 2 days without a new "Fuzz that doesn't lose low end..." thread! Phew! I was starting to worry that the search function started working.

Just kidding. There's lots of Fuzzes w/ good low end retention. And plenty of threads & opinions on the specific pedal you link to.

Just do a quick search (up there in the blue bar near the top) & you'll find literally hundreds (if not thousands) of reviews/opinions/etc...

Yes. Search is your friend. The MXR El Grande I had for maybe 72 hours was NOT my friend.

That el grande sounds farty and shrill at the same time (from the soundclip). Not my taste at all.

Get over to bassfuzz.com to get an idea of the different fuzz boxes out there.

What kind of rig are you running thru? Maybe you can get the tone effect you want without resorting to stomp boxes.
