Best light overdrive? The title says it all, I'm looking for a light overdrive pedal to put a little hair on my tone and would like to know which one is your favorite and why. |
Pork Loin. Under $100. Clean Blend. Top Jacks. Unlimited tonal options thanks to the internal controls. |
Zvex Distortron. Keeps all the low end and adds just enough crunch when playing with a pick. |
I really enjoy the Xotic BB Bass preamp for some nice OD on the edge of my signal...It's like adding a little bit of gain from an amp. |
I've always liked the Green Rhino. The drive knob allows going from a slight grunt to an all-out growl. |
I really like my Fulltone OCD. I think it does a very nice job of keeping low end in the signal, without making it sound, well, like a wet fart. Some overdrives/distortions say they retain low end, but it comes out very fake and boomy, or can only be achieved by using mostly the dry knob. The OCD is very tube like and can cleans up really well if you play with dynamics. |
Fuzzrocious Dark Driving is amazing at achieving all overdriven tones and reacts accordingly to how hard you play which means you just have to play harder for heavier drive from the pedal. |

I'd like to recommend the Digitech Hardwire CM-2 as well. I like the Pork Loin more for low gain, but the CM-2 does the light thing nicely and the added bass/treble controls are a nice touch. |
Been through a LOAD. The Ashdown James Lomenzo Hyperdrive is "it" for me. The key thing for me is to be able to select which part of the midrange I want to OD, and by how much, and then mix just the right amount of it into my dry signal. This pedal does just that. |

IMO, other: Fairfield Barbershop Xotic Bass RC |
I have the Hardwire, and I love it. Im also really interested in the bass overdrive that MXR should be releasing soon. Supposedly it's based on the Pork Loin, but with a better clean blend, a slightly tweaked tone, and more available gain. |

any kind of TS9. I use a GFS greenie classic set at low gain into a sansamp. it sounds fantastic. great John Entwistle-like tone |

Darkglass B3K. I love mine. No low end loss at all. |
